Gerald “Jerry” Alan Erickson Sr., age 79, from Winchester since 1999 went home to his heavenly father on August 21, 2017.

Jerry was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1938 to Theodore and Ingrid Erickson and traveled the world in service to the U.S. Navy and U.S. Air Force.

Jerry leaves behind the love of his life, his wife Kay of 49 years which he met and married in Alconbury, England.

He is survived by his four children; Leisa, born in Albany, Georgia; Patti born in Logansport, Indiana; Julie born in Lakenheath, England; and Jerry Junior born in Newark, Ohio. He is also survived by his two younger sisters residing in Minnesota and Florida, his older step brother in Washington State.

Jerry and his wife have 9 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Jerry led a colorful and adventurous life starting with spending 22 years in the military. His travels included Thailand, Vietnam, Korea, Japan, Hawaii, Guam, Alaska, Australia, New Zealand, Morocco, Libya, Lebanon, Monaco, France, Italy, Spain, Germany, Scotland, England, and the Faroe Islands to name a few. This meant Jerry spending a total of six years away from his family. It was his wonderful wife Kay that held the family together.

After retiring from the U.S. Air Force, he also retired from the Tennessee Valley Authority, the Nevada Test site and lastly Arnold Air Force Base, He was known for his wit and sense of humor, and carried the title of King of One Liners.

After all was said and done, nothing meant more to him than God, his wife Kay, and his family tie and the love that could not have been stronger.

Visitation will be held Friday, August 25, 2017 from 5:00-8:00pm at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held Saturday, August 26, 2017 at 2:00pm from the chapel of Moore-Cortner Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Michael Clark and Rev. Anna Brockman officiating. Inurnment will be Monday, August 28, 2017 at 12:00pm eastern time at Chattanooga National Cemetery.
