LEESBURG, FL. — Terry Lee Hart, 70, of Leesburg, formerly of Elkhart, passed away suddenly in Alabama on his way home from a visit to Elkhart on Monday, Aug. 7, 2017. He was born, in Elkhart, Jan. 10, 1947, to the late Donald C. and Maxine E. (Rowe).

Surviving are his children, Brett (Christina Miller) Hart of Elkhart, Barry Hart of Indianapolis and Andrew “Drew” Hart of Las Vegas, Nevada; brothers David and Donald (Barbara) Hart, both of Elkhart; grandchildren Gavin, Logan and Analia Hart and Olivia Ramsey; and former spouse Roxanne Schertz of Goshen.

Billings Funeral Home of Elkhart is honored to host Terry’s celebration of life services at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2017 with visitation beginning at 4 p.m. Pastor Terry Prince of the Resurrection Lutheran Church of Charlotte, North Carolina, will officiate and cremation will follow the services in accordance with the family’s wishes.

Terry was a strong advocate for the disabled and impoverished, and served most of his life managing food pantries and charitable organizations, both in Elkhart and in Florida.

His local involvements included Church Community Services, Loveway and the Boys and Girls Clubs of America. He was also involved with Elkhart’s “Great Race” and organized the wheelchair events.
Besides volunteering, he loved to spend time with his family and friends. He was also a strong Christian and maintained his membership with Elkhart’s First Baptist Church.

Memorial donations may be given in Terry’s memory to Wheelchair Help, 515 East Street, Elkhart, IN 46516.
