Obituary for Mrs. Christine Brooks
Mrs. Christine Brooks, the daughter of the late Joe Tyson and Callie Clark, was born on October 25, 1932 in Mercer, Tennessee. She departed this life on Friday, July 28, 2017 at the home of her daughter, after a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Brooks professed her life to Christ at an early age. She was baptized and later united with the Mercer Baptist Church. She then became a member of Mount Moriah M.B.C, for many years, where she served on the Mothers Board and a member of the church choir. Later, she joined the Greater St. Luke M.B.C, where she served as the President of the Mother’s Board, Pastor and Deacons Wives, and a member of the GSL Gospel Choir. Mrs. Brooks came to Greater St. Luke motivated to serve in any capacity that she was needed. She was instrumental in the Mother’s Board being what it is today.
Mrs. Brooks united in Holy Matrimony to the late Isaac H. Brooks, Sr., and to this union eight children were born.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Isaac H. Brooks, Sr., and one brother, Clarence Tyson.
Left to cherish her memories are five daughters & three sons, Evelyn Brooks White of Memphis, TN, Joyce Ann Brooks of Hazel Crest, IL, Rev. Isaac H. Brooks, Jr. (Ethel), Tony Brooks, Sr. (Pearlie), Donna Womack (Otha), Alisia B. Muhammad (Khabeer), Tina LaChaundia Hobson (Reggie) all of Jackson, Tennessee and Edward D. Brooks (Karen) of Los Angeles, CA; one special aunt, Canary Batchelor of Jackson, TN; one sister-in-law, Alice Brooks of Jackson, TN; one special cousin, Almeta Whitfield of Toone, TN; three godchildren, Mabel Herron, Rosemary & Herman Mosley all of Jackson, TN; a very special person, Sharon Williams, her personal caregiver of Memphis, TN; a childhood friend, Lorance Whitford of St. Louis, MO.
Thirty one grandchildren, Shelia, Felix, Jr., Christy, Christopher, Cedric, LaTina, Angela, Derrick, Carole, Laquetia, Ike,III, Natasha, Chace, Consuela, Tony, Jr., Michael, Tony, III, Toni, Kenneth, Melvin, Chelsea, Jessica, Erica, Isaiah, Houston, Carlos, Alicia, Khabeer, Christina, Reginald, Jr., & Zoie. Forty-six great-grandchilden and fourteen great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
