Martha Lou Warner, age 72, of Altoona, Iowa, passed away on August 18, 2017 at Calvin Community in Des Moines. She was born July 5, 1945 to Russell and Mary (Neff) Warner in Ottumwa, Iowa.
She attended Blakesburg High School, and graduated from Truman University in 1968. Martha taught third grade at Four Mile Elementary in Southeast Polk school district for thirty-six years.
Her passion was crafts and sewing. She loved to attend craft shows. Her love of horses led her to owning and racing thoroughbreds. She owned Lone Oaks Stables in Baxter, Iowa.
She is survived by her brother, Ed Warner (Sharon) of Albia; niece, Kat Blumhagen of Fairfield, and many cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents.
Martha’s body has been cremated per her wishes. A Celebration of Life visitation will be held on Sunday, September 3, 2017, from 9-11 a.m. at Sinnott Funeral Home in Albia. In Lieu of flowers, Memorials may be directed to the Blakesburg United Methodist Church. Online condolences may be left for the family at sinnottfuneralhome.com.
