Relief Crocker was my 4x great-grandma. Her son William Hyland m Sally McKeith Rogers who had son Myron Daniel Hyland m Harriet Northa Thompson who had son William Russell Hyland m Julia Melissa Tallman who had son Ira Edwin Hyland who married Adeline Frances Wiser who were my grandparents (parents of my father Edwin Myron Hyland).

Relief Crocker was born about 1765-1770 to Joseph Crocker and Relief Lovell in Barnstable, Barnstable County, Mass. Her parents married in Barnstable, Barnstable, Mass. 25 Aug. 1759 or 3 July 1760 (listed on two records with two dates).

She moved with her parents to the Hallowell, Maine area and that is where she met Abner Hyland. On their marriage in Hallowell 23 Feb 1792 his name was listed as Highland of Littleborough Plantation (what is now Greene, Maine). She was seven months pregnant when they married. The Joseph Crocker family was right next to Abner's family in Maine on the census records.

The entire Hyland family moved first to Bradford, Vermont for a short time, then by 1815 to Indian Stream Territory, where Abner and Relief led the way into this wilderness to help settle the area. Coos County was organized in 1803.

It was in Pittsburg, Coos Co, New Hampshire in 1815 that their 10th and last child, Amasa, was born.

Abner and Relief had 10 children: Cassandria, Diadama, William, Deborah, Abner, Jr., Relief, Joseph, Lorania, Lydia, and Amasa.

Relief died in Pittsburg, Coos, NH (possibly after Amasa's birth in 1815). The date of death and burial was probably in Indian Stream Cemetery. Abner remarried after her death to a sister of his two daughters-in-law (Nancy B Rogers), He died in 1841.
