Abraham Simonsen Hoen was the son of Sunen Hansen and Marin Kerstin Larse of Norway. He settled initially in the area of Cato, Wisconsin before 1860, and ultimately homesteaded land in Hardin, Goodhue, Minnesota. He was a ship's captain by trade. He married Kristin Gurine "Anne" Rasmusdatter Lekas in Green Bay, Wisconsin on 22 Jan 1865 in the Evangelical Lutheran Church. He and Anne had at least 10 children and following Anne's death, Abraham went to live with his daughter in St Charles, Missouri where he died in 1925. His remains were taken back to Hardin, Minnesota where he was buried in the Holden Lutheran Cemetery.
