Elmer Lechner Stewart, age 64, of Jasper, passed away at 7:40 p.m. on Wednesday (February 6, 2013) at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper.

He was born in Washington, Indiana on March 5, 1948 to Clyde Elmer and Frieda Inez (Lechner) Stewart. He married Rosemary Merter on April 14, 1973 at St. Celestine Catholic Church in Celestine, Indiana.

Elmer graduated from Jasper High School, and then attended Trinidad College, in Trinidad Colorado.

He worked at Best Chairs in Jasper.

He was a member and elder of the First Presbyterian Church of Jasper. He was also a member of the Celestine Community Club, and a past 4-H leader for the Celestine All Stars.

Funeral services for Elmer L. Stewart will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday (February 9, 2013) at the First Presbyterian Church in Jasper, with burial to follow in St. Celestine Cemetery in Celestine, Indiana. Rev. Larry Langer will officiate.
