Ramona Martin

Our loving mother Ramona (Mona, Tita Mona, Mimi) passed away peacefully on August 16, 2017, at age 84.

She had suffered from dementia, Parkinson's and Alzheimer's Disease for several years.

Ramona was born, attended school and lived as a long-time resident of Winters, California.

After high school, Ramona attended Sacramento City College and obtained her Associate of Art's degree in Business.

Ramona Ramos married Frank Martin Jr. in 1953 and they honeymooned in Astoria, Oregon.

She was Mother to her adopted children Kathy and David. Ramona truly enjoyed gardening, growing roses, Bird of Paradise, Irises and more. She was an amazing cook and baker, enjoyed sewing, assisted with duties at St. Anthony's Catholic Church and enjoyed spending time with her two grandchildren. She also liked to host meals for her family during the holidays and gather all of her aunts together on the Ramos side of the family.

Her favorite color was blue and anyone that stepped inside her Winters home knew this. After marrying, Ramona worked as a secretary at PG&E and UC Davis.

She retired after 25+ years as a buyer in the purchasing department at Marack Hall, UC Davis. In her later years, Ramona enjoyed traveling with Frank. Both sang in the choir at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, served as eucharistic ministers, and she served on the Altar Society.

Frank and Ramona were married for 59 years until Frank passed away in March 2013 (Ramona could not recall this due to her illness).

Ramona is survived by her brother Tom Ramos (wife Phyllis) and sister Lola Riolo (husband Bob). Deceased are her brothers Bill and Carl Ramos. Ramona is also survived by her son David Martin and daughter Kathryn Massman (son-in-law Michael), and grandchildren Matthew and Megan Massman.

Services are Fri., Aug. 25, with an 11AM Mass at St. Anthony's Church, 511 Main St., Winters, CA 95694, followed by graveside service at Winters Cemetery.

Afterwards, a reception at St. Anthony's Parish Hall. Special thanks to caregivers Hilda Ochoa and her sister Dora Lopez of Winters, Brookdale staff in Vacaville, Bridgeway Care staff in West Sacramento, and Yolo Hospice.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the charity of your choice in memory of Ramona Martin.
