Lena was a member of the Independence Christian Church and the Pike County Home Extension. She was a farmwife and worked at Casteel Color Wheel for 10 years. Lena always had a big garden and beautiful flowers. Even up into her 90s, she was still raising strawberries and selling them. She enjoyed mushrooming and fishing. Lena also loved to crochet and watch the Cardinals. Her biggest joy was her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Lena is survived by two sons, Phil (Janice) Bauer of Pittsfield and Mark (Mary) Bauer of South Lake, Texas; one daughter, Barbara Spann of Pittsfield; five grandchildren, Troy (Kim) Bauer, Ronnie (Teresa) Bauer, Mike (Karrie) Spann, Morgan (Ted) Holt, and Matthew Bauer; six great grandchildren, Taylor Bauer, Lauren Bauer, Sydney Bauer, Shelby Bauer, Jayson Spann, and Theodore Holt; and two nephews, Bruce Armstrong and Brice Armstrong. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and one sister, Lela Mae Armstrong.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Sunday, July 30, 2017 at Niebur Funeral home with Don Kirk officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until 11 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will be in West Cemetery in Pittsfield.
Memorials are suggested to be made to the Independence Christian Church.
