Billie taught for 21 years at Varnum Elementary School, second grade for 20 years and fifth grade for one year. She was named Oklahoma Teacher of the Year while at Varnum Schools, in 1988. After her retirement, she continued to help school children by tutoring them after school, along with her own grandchildren. During World War II, She worked at Douglas Aircraft in Tulsa, Oklahoma and Tinker Air Force Base in Midwest City, Oklahoma as a sandblaster. Billie was a longtime member of the Church of Christ in Seminole, retired Teachers Association and formerly in several Garden Clubs. Billie loved to travel and was always ready to go, with her bags always packed.
Billie is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Ronnie and Tommie Richardson of Seminole, her daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Jerry Reed of Seminole; four sisters, Juanell Moses of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Dorothy Cleo Pensoneau of Searcy, Arkansas, Jeanette Mitchell of Wichita, Kansas and Virginia Burris of Sapulpa, Oklahoma; four grandchildren Kerry Reed, Heath Reed, Tonya Richardson, and Ronnie Richardson, Jr. and great grandchildren; Kash, Keeley and Karsyn Reed, Trey and his wife Desirae Richardson, Tyler and Tanner Richardson, great great grandchildren Karson and Karter Richardson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Tommy Richardson, her sister Ernestine Rhodes, brothers Elray and Howard Crawford.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M., Friday, August 25, 2017 at the Church of Christ at 12040 Highway 99N in Seminole, Oklahoma, with Arpoika Daniels. Burial will follow at Little Cemetery.
