Earl S. Bowen, 78, passed away on March 7, 2006.

He was born Dec. 5, 1927, in Akron. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, and worked in heating and air conditioning for Wooster Sheet Metal. He volunteered for many organizations, but was especially active with Stan Hywet Hall, Akron Civic Theatre, Edwin Shaw Challenge Golf, and World Golf Championship. Earl was a happy man who enjoyed life to the fullest.

Earl was preceded in death by his sisters, Jean Cottrell and Linda Eagon. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Velma; daughter, Susan (Daniel) Milla; sons, Dana Bowen and Andrew Bowen; grandchildren, Christopher and Sophia Milla, and Angela, Laura, and Adam Bowen; sister, Bea Kirtpatrick; brother-in-law, Robert (Sara) Sills; many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Friends may call at the Bacher Funeral Home, 3326 Manchester Rd., on Saturday from 12 noon to 2 p.m., where services will begin at 2 p.m., Pastor Eric Crites officiating. Private interment at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. Published in the Akron Beacon Journal from 3/9/2006 - 3/10/2006.
