Douglas Allen West, age 65, of Rowlett, TX, since 1999, passed away January 25, 2017. He was born April 20, 1951, in Fairbury, IL, to Roy and Bernice (Bergstrom) West. He served his country proudly in the United States Air Force and later worked as a Systems Engineer for Raytheon and Rockwell Collins. Doug attended First United Methodist Church and was a loving husband, father and a great friend. He loved to cook for friends and family and was famous for his nachos and brown derby cake! Doug enjoyed fine wine and scotch and loved to entertain. He was a very organized person, maintaining detailed records of important activities in his life. His hobbies included hunting, baseball, basketball, bowling and a love for woodworking. An avid Chicago Cubs fan, who was happy to see them finally win the world series this year.

Doug is survived by his loving wife of 34 years: Ann West; son: Sean West and wife Renae; grandsons: Kaleb and Kyle; niece: Kimberly Nielsen and husband Doug; longtime loving friends: Boyd and Patricia Low; mother-in-law: Virginia Espeland and husband Jack; and father-in-law: Charles G. Roy; along with a host of extended family and friends worldwide. He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister: Carol Ann Whiteside.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, February 18, 2017, at First United Methodist Church, 1200 E. Yellow Jacket Ln., Rockwall 75087 with Dr. Joe Pool and Rev. Alan Clark officiating. Memorials in Doug’s name can be made to UT Southwestern Medical Center Heart and Lung Transplant Center at Professional Office Building 2,
