"Mrs. Gladys M. Washurn, 79, of Mt. Vision RD, a lifelong resident of the area, died Wednesday, April 25, at Fox Hospital, Oneonta, after an extended illness. She was born Dec. 1, 1899 in Rome, a daughter of George B. and Julia (Ruth) Wimple. She was married to Harold L. Washburn. He died Dec. 10, 1973. She had lived at Mt. Vision RD for many years and was a housewife. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Onley Kline, Edmeston, and Mrs. Mary A. Hungerford, Mt. Vision RD; three sons, Douglass Washburn, New Lisbon; Francis H. Washburn, Portage, Ind., and Norman F. Washburn, Rockville; two sisters, Mrs. Claude (Ruth) Avery, Rivera Beach, Fla.; and Mrs. Catherine Conklin, Utica; a brother, George Wimple, Utica; 21 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. The funeral was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 28, at the Johnston Funeral Home, Morris, with the Rev. Russell Weise, pastor of the Morris United Methodist Church, officiating.
