Services will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, August 22, 2017, at Carmichael-Whatley Canadian Chapel with Rev. Matthew McCurley, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow at Edith Ford Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Canadian.

Mr. Howell was born July 17, 1939 in Shamrock. He had been a longtime resident of Canadian. Jimmy married Bonnie McGee in 1978 and she preceded him in death. Jimmy was a heavy equipment operator for Hemphill County retiring after working over 30 years. He formerly attended the Pentecostal Holiness Church. Jimmy loved to fish, hunt and travel. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Nellie Howell; a son, Ricky Dean Howell in 1977; two brothers, Billy Ray Howell and Claudis “Buddy” Howell; and a sister, Robbie Billingsley.

Survivors include a son, Walter Howell of Elk City, Oklahoma; two daughters, Evelyn Howell of Illinois and Rhonda Wells of Enid, Oklahoma; a brother, Jackie Howell of Las Vegas, Nevada; three sisters, Edith Kidd of Eric, Oklahoma, Linda Driskill of Elkton, Kentucky and Minnie Piercy of Las Vegas, Nevada; nine grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
