DEATH NOTICE: Macon Telegraph, Macon, Georgia, September 27, 1882:
Georgia Gleanings
Rome. September 25. - Mrs. J. W. Bones died at 6 p. m. yesterday of a congestive chill. She was a lady of the highest type, the wife of one of our most prominent merchants, and much beloved. The whole community is bereaved.

OBITUARY: Brent H. Holcomb, Marriage and Death Notices From The Southern Presbyterian, Volume III: 1880-1891 (Columbia, S.C.: SCMAR, 2011), p. 96:
Issue of October 5, 1882:
Died, on Sunday, Sept. 24, at Rome, Ga., Mrs. Marion Woodrow Bones, wife of Mr. James W. Bones, and daughter of the late Rev. Dr. Thomas Woodrow. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife and mother.

Note on date of birth: Mrs. Bones' tombstone gives her year of birth as 1834. This is in error. Her birth is recorded in the Congregational Church records in Carlisle, England, as 22 November 1832, and her baptism on 5 February 1833. She obviously could not have been baptized before she was born. As her father was the pastor of the church, these dates were recorded by him personally.
