He was born February 27, 1929 in St. Joseph, Missouri to Forrest and Madge (Bourdick) Perkins.
Jim married Betty Simmons April 2, 1949 she survives of the home.
He was a fireman for the City of St. Joseph for thirty years, retiring in 1985. Jim also ran Perkins wallpaper and painting for over forty years. He was a member of First Lutheran Church, Firefighters Organization, Breakfast Club and Kappas Club at First Lutheran Church.
Jim enjoyed traveling and loved his children and grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Garland, Forrest and Charles Perkins.
Additional survivors include daughter, Deborah Rafter; son, Carl J. Perkins (Martha); sister, Doris Anderson; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
Farewell Services 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will gather with friends one hour prior to the service, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory.
