EPILOGUE - In Colonia Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico, on 17 October 1995, Ernest LeRoy Hatch lost a very long battle with Parkinson's Disease. He died in his former consultorio where he had counseled, cared for and cured hundreds, even thousands, who loved and depended on him. His life had come full circle --the boyhood home where he was born on 31 August 1911 is just across the street.
Elder Robert E. Wells, who represented The First Presidency of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and President Jose Dolores Chavez, of the Colonia Juarez Stake Presidency, both of whom spoke at the funeral, paid him high tribute and just praise and emphasized his life of service and commitment.
Truly the following Biblical quotation applies to Ernest LeRoy Hatch: "Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungered and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?
"When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?
"Or when saw we thee sick,or in prison, and came unto thee?
"And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me." Matthew 25: 37-40
Note: This EPILOGUE is taken from the book "MEDICO, MY LIFE AS A COUNTRY DOCTOR IN MEXICO" - an autobiography by E. LeRoy Hatch - completed and published in 2003 by his third wife Jeanne J. Hatch after his death.
