Charles Dunham Wright was the eldest member of a family of two sons and five daughters of Elisha and Melissa Wright. He was 53 years, 2 months and 20 days of age at the time of his death, having been born on a farm two miles east of New London, July 12, 1869, near which place he spent his entire life.
November 30, 1892, he was united in marriage to Mary Ella Ramsey. To this union one son Elmer was born. Wife and son survive him. Also five sisters: Mrs. Emma Chapman of Los Angeles, Cal., Mrs. Lewis Bishop, Mrs. Perry Hanks, Mrs. Lewis Elliott of New London, Iowa, and Mrs. Raymond McCreary of Lowell, Oregon. His mother and brother preceded him in death several years ago and his aged father survived him but two days.
Mr. Wright was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church and the I.O.O.F. and also a member of the board of directors of the Iowa State bank at the time of his death. He had been in failing health the past nine months, having spent the last three months in the hospital and arrived at his home but four days before his death which occurred October 2, 1922.
