Co. A 25th New York Calvary

Birth: ca. 1833

Worked as a carpenter before the war. Enlisted in Company A of the 25th New York Cavalry on 11 Nov 1863. Promoted to Full 1st Sergeant on 20 Feb 1864.

Starbird is believed to be the tallest man (6'2") buried at the cemetery. His height may have been a disadvantage for him, making him an easy target for Confederate sharpshooters. According to records, he was shot through the heart and died instantly.
