John O. Silvey,70, of Hurricane, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2017, after a courageous battle with cancer, He was
surrounded by his caregivers, wife Dreama, sister Frankie and
family member and friends. John was born on October 1946, to
the late Sam and Ethel Silvey, He was preceded in death by his former wife, Lora Silvey, and two sisters Barbara Dinan and Rosemary Means. John graduated from Hurricane High School in 1965. He retired from CDI Corporation and was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Hurricane. John was a member of the choir, taught Sunday School for many years and spent many hours working the church audio. He was an vid motor
cycle rider and his Christian riding buddies were like family
to him. He served his country, in Vietnam, in the U.S.A Airborne, from 1964 to 1967. ''The Price of Freedom Is Not Free". John is survived by his wife, Dreama Neville Silvey; his sister, Frankie Barker of Augusta, Ga, and sister, Joyce Miles of St. Albans. Also survived, daughters , Leah (Taylor)
Anderson, grandsons, Ethan and Damion of St, Albans, and daughter ,Melissa Silvey, and grandson, Hunter Reedy of Poca, granddaughter, Katie Cline (Chris) of Michigan and Kristen Hicks of Cross Lanes. Three step daughters, Robin Rogers of Hurricane, Melissa (Tim) Meeks of Hurricane, Shelia (Randy) Justice of Lincolnton, N.C; and stepson, Mike (Lisa) Neville
of Mt. Lookout. Step grandchildren, Autumn (Billy) Price ,Thor (Leah) Meeks, Ariel Meeks(Weston) Tardy, all of Hurricane. Step-great grandchildren, Mason and Holly Price of Hurricane. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, August 21, at the First Baptist Church of Hurricane on Main Street, Hurricane. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 22, at the church. Burial will be at Valley View Memorial Park in Hurricane with Military Services. John has requested that all friends who ride motorcycles, please join in the procession from the church to the cemetery. Line up by 10:30 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Hurricane. Dreama and family would like thank the Tampa VA Hospital and Doctors of the Huntington VA Hospital
for taking care of John's needs. Special thanks to Dr. Hunter Boshell and his Surgical team, the special nurses at Huntington VA and Cabell Huntington Hospital. Many thanks to our wonderful Hospice nurses April Gibson and Susan Rich.
