Calvin married a 2nd time to a widow, Mrs. Mary Vermilla Alexander about 1878. Mary's maiden name is unclear. It may have been "Stephenson" or "Alexander" (same as 1st husband's surname). She had 2 sons from her 1st marriage, Oliver Howard Alexander & William M. Alexander. Calvin & Mary had 1 son together, Calvin Turner Burns.
Calvin's date of birth is based on his death certificate showing that he was 75 years, 9 months & 10 days old when he died on January 22, 1905. The 1900 census showed his birth as June 1829 but based on his death certificate, he was born April 12, 1829 (not June). Census records for Calvin confirm the 1829 year of birth.
Many of Calvin's neighbors on the 1900 Texas Census, Erath Co., Alexander, are also buried in Turnbow Cemetery.
