Son of Hawkins Clifton (c. 1834-c. 1886) and Emma Bartilla Renfro (1848-1920)

According to the 1880, 1900, and 1910 Census, he is born in Florida. In the 1920 Census, he is born in Alabama. He married Alice Evelyn Lolley on 21 Sep 1916 in Bay Co., Florida. According to his WWI draft card, he is described as medium height and medium build with brown eyes and black hair. According to my great grandmother Inez Lolley Flowers, Marcus' sister-in-law, he died from pneumonia, but his death certificate list his cause of death as a ruptured appendix. He was buried on 29 Apr 1931 in an unmarked grave in the western half of the cemetery.

His siblings are Daniel Thomas Clifton (33387327) and Lee Decatur Clifton (30439919).
