Todd Shannon, 79, of Velma, died Saturday at a Duncan nursing home. Before moving to Velma five years ago, he was a longtime Pittsburg resident. Nephews will serve as pallbearers. Shannon was born Feb. 27, 1906 at Cameron, Tex. He was a retired farmer, school custodian and carpenter. His wife, Geneva, preceded him in death on Feb. 6, 1977. Survivors include four daughters, Jerry Oliver of Ft. Worth, Tex., Betty Williams of Carlsbad, New Mexico, JoAnn Melton of Broken Arrow and Lena Enloe of Velma; eight grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; a sister, Lillian (Bobbie) Gardener of Kiowa; two sisters in law, Belle Shannon and Lois Shannon, both of Pittsburg and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Monday at 10 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Pittsburg, of which Shannon was a member. Rev. Danny Wood will officiate. Burial will be at Pittsburg cemetery under the direction of Mills Funeral Home.
