Herb Hamilton went to be with his Lord on August 9, 2017, after a year of battling cancer. A man of few words, Herb was known for his service to others. He served his country for 6 ears in the National Guard and U.S. Army. For more than 20 years, he was a volunteer and past president of the Berlin, NJ Ambulance Squad and went on to become one of New Jersey's first certified volunteer paramedics in 1978.

Herb and his wife, Nancy, retired to Raphine, VA in 1995 where they both served their community through Kingsway Help Center. Herb enjoyed working with Habitat for Humanity and Mission Next Door through New Providence Presbyterian Church. He loved helping others, serving the Lord, riding his Harley and spending time with family.

Herb was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy, of 53 years. He is survived by his son, Herbert W. Hamilton III (Marci); daughter, Kathleen M. Baldwin (Mark); and grandchildren James, Jessica, Jenna and Joshua.

A memorial service was held at Westwood Baptist Church (2124 Davis Road, Waynesboro, VA) on Saturday, August 12 at 10:00 a.m. A private burial service for the immediate family followed at the New Providence Presbyterian Church cemetery.
