The family moved to Chester, Georgia and at an early age she joined the Springfield Baptist Church and remained a member. She attended the Chester School System. She was employed by several prominent families in the Chester area for many years. She was a beloved friend to many of the Chester Community families.
Janice matured into a young woman, she met and married Benjamin “Peter Rojer” Reeves, and to this union two children was born, Sharon and Benjamin. Peter Rojer and Janice moved to Florida at an early stage in life and settled in Miami. Peter Rojer was call to heaven in 1974. Janice remained in Miami and worked as a hotel housekeeper until she retired. She loved life to the fullest.
She was preceded in death by her infant son, Benjamin; husband, Benjamin ”Peter Roger” Reeves; father and mother Willie D. and Ella Whipple.
She leaves to mourn her passing and cherish her memories, a devoted daughter, Sharon (Johnny) Wilmore, Chester, Ga.; a loving and devoted brother, Willie James(Charlene) Whipple, Warner Robins, Ga.; two wonderful grandchildren, Mallory Johnson, Korea, and Jonathan Johnson, Germany; two nephews, Kevin Whipple, Warner Robins, Ga., and Jermaine (Monique) Whipple, Warner Robins, Ga., and loving in-laws, Pearline Davis and Gertrude Reeves, and the Willie Mae Stanley’s family of Laurens County.
Mrs. Reeves will be placed in the church one hour prior to her services. The family will receive friends at the home ofher daughter and son-in-law, Chester, GA
Home-Going Celebration for Mrs. Janice Reeves, former residence of Chester, Ga., will be held Saturday, August 19, 2017 at 12 Noon in the New Cannon Baptist Church, Chester, Ga., and interment to follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery. The Rev. Johnny Wilmore will officiate.
