Margaret Ann “Marge” Mekis Hoover, 73, Charles Town, WV departed this life Tuesday, August 15, 2017, at Jefferson Medical Center, Ranson, WV.
Born January 27, 1944, in Baltimore, MD, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Pundzak and Mary Bako Pundzak.
She was a member of the Roman Catholic Parish of St. James the Greater in Charles Town.
“Marg” was a retired Quality Controller for Norm Thompson with over ten years service. She was very dedicated to the Boy Scouts and was awarded the Silver Beaver. At St. James, she was a devoted and active member in many ministries, and was known for getting the job done. She was affectionately known as “the Boss.”
She is survived by two daughters, Joanne Mekis, Johnstown, PA, and Marianne Murphy and husband, John, Butler, PA; one son, Joseph Hoover and wife, Kelly, Harpers Ferry; two grandsons, Zachary Murphy and wife, Nadia, and Simon Murphy; one sister, Janet Zahoran and husband, Mike; two brothers, Joseph Pundzak and David Pundzak; special niece and nephew, Sashia Pundzak and John Jakab; and a host of extended family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two husbands, John Michael Mekis and William Joseph Hoover; and one nephew, Mark Jakab.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, August 18, 2017, at St. James Catholic Church, 49 Crosswinds Drive, Charles Town, 25414 with the Rev. Father John Ledford as Celebrant, assisted by Deacon David Galvin.
The family will receive friends at Eackles-Spencer & Norton Funeral Home, 256 Halltown Road, Harpers Ferry/Charles Town, on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. A Rosary will be at 3:30 p.m., and a Vigil at 8:30 p.m.
Interment will be Monday, August 21, at Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Johnstown, PA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Project: StreetKids International, 286 Bunker Hill Road, Central City, PA 15926.
