Funeral services for Mr. John Richard Strauss, Sr., 78, will be held on Saturday, August 26, 2017. Viewing will be in Melancon Funeral Home in Arnaudville, LA from 7:30a.m.-10:45a.m. and church services will be at St. Francis Regis and will start at 11:00a.m. Interment will be in St. Charles Borromeo Cemetery in Grand Coteau, LA. The Rev. Travis Abadie, pastor of St. Francis Regis Catholic Church, will officiate at the services.
Mr. Strauss was a native and lifelong resident of Arnaudville where he was a parishioner of St. Francis Regis Catholic Church. He was a retired farmer. His favorite hobby was fishing.
He is survived by his wife of seventeen years, Ella Mae Sam Strauss of Arnaudville, LA; three daughters; one biological daughter, Shirley Strauss Paul of Arnaudville, LA; Kimberly Freeman and her husband, Ricky, of Opelousas, LA and Deidre Jones of Lafayette, LA; two sons, Fabian Strauss of Carencro and Patrick Jones, Jr. and his wife, Danielle, of Opelousas; nine grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clovis Pellerin Strauss and the former Lorena Roy; one son, John Richard "Ricky" Strauss, Jr.; son-in-law, Donald Paul, Sr.; his cousin raised as a brother, Joseph Alvin Strauss and grandparents, Joseph Cleopha Strauss & Noelie Collins Strauss and Eli & Bertha Williams Roy.
The family requests visiting hours be observed from 7:30 a.m. Saturday until service time on Saturday.
