Mr. Pridgen was a heavy duty parts specialist for Union Auto (NAPA) and was known locally as the best parts man in the world. He took great pride in his work and enjoyed interacting with his customers. James was a master gardener, mason, and cabinet maker. His hobbies were deer hunting, fishing, and growing giant watermelons. Multiple times he grew the biggest melons at the watermelon Festival and earned the title of "King James" for his melon growing abilities. James loved the Lord and faithfully served the Lord as a member of Salem Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty; parents: Colvin & Nellie Pridgen and brothers: Gene Pridgen & his wife, Faye; and Carl Pridgen; and brother-in-law, John Kennedy.
Left to cherish his memory is his son, James C. Pridgen, Jr. & wife, Donna; daughter Theresse "Skeeter" Ball & husband, Darren; 2 grandchildren: Brandon Pridgen & wife, Lara and Harleigh Gathright; step granddaughters: Candace Albritton, Beth Ann Hicks & husband, Kyle; great grandchildren: Hannah Pridgen, Landon Pridgen, Collette Pridgen, and River Albritton; sisters-in-law: Linda Pridgen, Judy Savage & husband, Ronnie; and Sandra Dixon; brother-in-law, Bobby Kennedy & wife, Sue; loving nephew, Troy Pridgen; and numerous other nieces and nephews; and many friends.
Pallbearers will be Troy Pridgen, Gary Cobb, Mike Cain, Jim McNair, Billy Bunch, and Chris Thomason. Honorary pallbearers are Elvin Graham and Jearl Savage.
