In the passing of Mrs. (Louisa) Eliza Quinn, Brown County had lost another of her early pioneer settlers. Widowed by her husband's death February 20, 1885, a year after they had settled upon their raw land homestead, she took up the task of completing the proof of the homestead and of rearing her family of four children to manhood and womanhood. Eliza Eldridge Quinn, eldest daughter of William and Rebecca Ray Eldridge, was born December 21, 1844 at Shelbyville, Indiana, and died at her home north of Ainsworth, January 16, 1933 at the age of 88 years and 26 days. At the age of 11 she moved with her parents to Winterset, Iowa, where she grew to womanhood. At the age of 15 she united with the Methodist Church of which she was a member until her death.

On March 25, 1866 she was united in marriage to James H. Quinn, a young Civil War Veteran. To this union were born five children, one of whom, Herbert Louis, died in infancy. In March of the year 1884 she and her husband and four children came to Ainsworth, and settled upon the homestead 2 1/2 miles north, homesteaded by her husband in the fall of 1883. Mrs. Quinn was a kind and loving mother and her character was of the highest type. She was loved and respected by all who knew her. Although her recent illness was one of much suffering she felt it was her cross and borne it bravely to the end. She leaves to mourn her loss two daughters, Miss Eva of Ainsworth, and Mrs. Cora Bristol of Sioux City, Iowa; two sons, Clayton and Martin of Ainsworth; 10 living grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren, 4 brothers; besides other relatives and friends.

The funeral services were held at the Hessen Funeral Home, Wednesday afternoon at 2:00, and conducted by Rev. Thomas W. Parkin. Burial was in Ainsworth Cemetery.
