U. S. Veteran John Samuel "Sam" Fifer, 91, of Huntsville, died Aug. 13, 2017, at the Willard Walker Hospice Home in Fayetteville.
He was born Nov. 30, 1925, in Huntsville, the son of Willie Marion and Erma Haney Fifer.
He was a barber and operated Sam's Barber Shop for 54 years.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Navy.
He was preceded in death by: one son, Biff Fifer; one brother, Adry Fifer; and one grandson, Hans Jacob Fifer.
Survivors include: his wife of 68 years, Wilda Dean Reeves Fifer of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Kim and Jan Fifer of North Little Rock; two brothers, Lee Parson of Moore, Okla., and Bill Fifer of Morehead, N.C.; one sister, Kathryn Wood of Aztec, N.M.; four grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held on Friday, Aug. 18, from 6-8 p.m. at Brashears Funeral Home of Huntsville.
