Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 19, 2017, at Collier-Butler Funeral home for Keith Wayne Brooks, 58, Birmingham, who passed away Sunday, Aug. 13, 2017. Entombment will be at Forrest Mausoleum. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services is directing.
Mr. Brooks graduated from Southside High School in 1977. His college education began at Gadsden State Community College, Class of 1979, and continued on to Jacksonville State University, Class of 1984, and then to Jefferson State Community College, where he graduated in 1991 with an Associate Degree in Nursing. He was a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity. Mr. Brooks was a gifted songwriter and piano player.
He was preceded in death by his father, Bobby Wayne Brooks; and grandparents, Amburse and Irene Brooks and Sam and Idell Elkins.
Mr. Brooks is survived by his daughter, Paige Brooks; son, Sam Brooks; son-in-law, Justin Love; grandson, Raylan Love; mother, Jean Watson; stepfather, Max Watson; sister, Lorie Thornton; brother-in-law, Mike Thornton; niece, Loren (Matt) Richards and their children, Brooks and Charlie; nephew, Justin (Cari) Chandler and their children, Jax and Ellie; and stepbrothers, Brance Watson and Kent Watson.
