The First Dexter, Missouri City Marshall to die in the line of duty. His name is listed on the National Law Enforcement Memorial. He died from a gunshot wound to the leg in 1892. He bled to death before he could get help. Sprinkle was the son of James C. Sprinkle and Clementa Binson Sprinkle, and was married to Nancy Matilda Owen.
