John A. Zagrodnik, age 76, was a lifelong resident of Manitowoc, Wisconsin. He entered into eternal life on Monday, August 7, 2017 at Shady Lane Nursing Care Center. John was born on November 29, 1940 to the late John S. and Martha G. (Becker) Zagrodnik. He graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 1959, and then went on to obtain his degree in education from Lakeland College. John lettered in baseball in both the high school and college levels. He had taught his entire career at Chilton Middle School in Chilton, Wisconsin. John was also the varsity baseball coach for most of his career. He enjoyed golf, hunting, and fishing with trips to Canada, South Dakota and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. John was an avid fan of the Packers, Brewers, L.A. Dodgers, Milwaukee Bucks and Wisconsin sports teams. John never married and had no children. Survivors include John’s two brothers, Dale (Helen) Zagrodnik, Manitowoc, Wisconsin; and Dennis (Betty) Zagrodnik, Clinton Township, Michigan; also nephews and nieces too numerous to mention. John was preceded in death by his parents, and sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy (Bob) Gassert. Memorial services will be held at Noon on Saturday, August 26, 2017 at St. Francis of Assisi on Marshall - 1114 South 21st Street, Manitowoc, Wisconsin. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Mark Mleziva. Cremation has taken place at the Harrigan Parkside Crematory and Chapel with burial of John's cremated remains to be held at Evergreen Cemetery at a later date. The family will greet relatives and friends at St. Francis of Assisi on Marshall on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the memorial service at Noon. The Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home and Crematory, North 11th and St. Clair Streets, Manitowoc is assisting the family with funeral arrangements. John says, “Have a nice day.”
