Heulon Stuart Dean of Fuquay-Varina passed away peacefully Friday, June 23, 2017 at Rex Hospital. He was married to Alta Mae Broughman until her death in 1987. He remarried Jane Elmgren MacLean in 1988. He was a professional photographer from 1955 until his retirement in 1987. The studio was taken over by his son-in-law at that time until closing it in 1998. He is survived by his wife, Jane Elmgren MacLean Dean; daughter, Lisa Carole Dean Upchurch and husband, Harold McLeod, Jr.; stepchildren, Karen McCarrick Reid and husband, Robert, Carol Bartos and husband, Darryl Bartos, Donald McCarrick and wife, Betsy McCarrick; grandchildren, Zachary Ivan Upchurch, Jeffery Reid, Debbie Reid Sharp, Scott Bartos, Kristen McCarrick and Alexandria McCarrick; and great granddaughter, Sandy McCarrick. He is a World War II Veteran, and worked at Procter Barbour Company before opening his photography studio. He was a life long citizen of Fuquay-Varina and was a member of various civic and professional organizations including the Professional Photographers of NC and the Professional Photographers of America, where he won numerous awards and earned the Craftsman Degree in Photography. He was past President of the Professional Photographers of NC.
A visitation will be held Tuesday, June 27, 2017 from 1:00 to 2:00 pm at Fuquay-Varina Baptist Church located at 301 N. Woodrow Street, Fuquay-Varina, NC 27526, with the funeral service to directly follow at 2:00 pm. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. 1621 N. Broad Street Fuquay-Varina, NC 27526.
A visitation will be held Tuesday, June 27, 2017 from 1:00 to 2:00 pm at Fuquay-Varina Baptist Church located at 301 N.
