John was born on December 30, 1935 in Stillwater, OK to John W. and Rilla M. (Perkins) Hadley. He married Patricia Keyes on December 19, 1964 in Peoria, IL.
Surviving are his wife, Pat; his son, Tim (Brittany) Hadley of Springfield, IL; his daughter, Angie (Tim) Delaney of Brimfield, IL; five grandchildren, Ali and Amberlyn Hadley and Kara, Ben and Becky Delaney; two sisters, Ladell Blair of Stillwater, OK and Vivan (Jimmy) Locklear of Burnet, TX; one brother-in-law, Jake Jacob of Goliad,TX and one sister-in-law, Jean Hadley of Ingalls, OK. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Glen Hadley and one sister, Lafaye Jacob.
John served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He worked for Pabst Brewing Company from 1964 until they closed in 1982. He then opened Hadley’s Coins in Peoria in 1986 until it closed in 2013. John was a member of the American Numismatic Association and he had a passion for collecting coins and sharing his knowledge of coins with others, especially children. John also attended Bethany Baptist Church in Peoria and was an avid Cubs and OSU fan.
Services will be held on Thursday, August 17, 2017 at 10am at The Wilton Mortuary in Peoria. Rev. Dr. Ritch Boerckel will be officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 16, 2017 from 4pm to 6pm also at the funeral home. Burial will be at Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria. Memorials may be made to the Epilepsy Foundation of North/Central Illinois or the American Numismatic Foundation.
