Evelyn Marie Harper Reeves beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to so many went home to be with the Lord in Baytown, Texas on August 4, 2017, at the age of 83. She was born on February 13, 1935 to Henry and Marie Harper.

She married her best friend and co-worker Morris Reeves. The both worked for GTE in the Crosby and Baytown until they retired to Huntsville, Texas.

Evelyn was a very loving and devoted Christian. She cared for her husband Morris until his passing on March 20, 2001.

She is preceded in death by her husband Morris Reeves; one brother Harry Harper; one sister Naomi Harper; two sisters-in-law Margaret Harper and Janet Harper; one nephew Michael Harper; and three sons-in-law James Hebert, Jim Wilkinson and Herbert Wilkinson.

Evelyn is survived by four daughters Debra Wilkinson of Baytown, Sharon Rodriguez and husband David of New Braunfels, Susie Kalmus and husband Darrell of LaGrange and Peggy Wilkinson of Baytown; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She never met a stranger she didn’t like.

Evelyn and Morris were devoted Christians and attended Love Wood Church in Houston before their retirement to Huntsville.

On Saturday evenings she enjoyed watching her favorite gospel singers. She loved her nurses and had bible lessons together with them after she became too sick to leave her house.

She was a testament to the love and devotion of her four girls. She loved to sew for them. She not only worked as PBX operator in LaGrange but was a seamstress as well.

Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her happiness. She will be sadly missed by those who loved her.

We know that our angel is in Heaven, flying with those she so dearly loved and missed.

In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions be made to A-Med Hospice of Baytown, Texas.

The family will receive friends at 11:00 AM, with funeral services to begin at 1:00 PM on Friday, August 11, 2017 in the chapel of Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home in Huntsville, Texas. Interment will follow the service at Adickes Addition of Oakwood Cemetery in Huntsville, Texas.
