Born July 25, 1951, in Lynchburg, Sally was the daughter of Dillard Maurice Markham and the late Ruth Boyette Markham.
Sally is survived by her daughter, Whitney Shea Tinsley, of Lynchburg, her son, Robert Edward "Rhett" Tinsley, III, of Lynchburg, and a brother, Dillard A. "Donnie" Markham, of Columbia, SC, and her former husband, Robert E. "Buddy" Tinsley, Jr., of Lynchburg.
Sally was a graduate of East Tennessee State University and was employed for many years with WYYD radio station. She was a former Miss Bedford County and participated in the Virginia Junior Miss Competition. She was very devoted to her children and had a strong, loving relationship with them. She will be remembered by all who knew her as a vivacious person with a great sense of humor. Among other great qualities, she was very spontaneous, fun-loving, outgoing, loved music and was an exceptional cook.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 4, 2009, at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 5, 2009, in the chapel of Tharp Funeral Home with Dr. J. Monty Fox officiating.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of the Hills, 3300 Rivermont Avenue, Lynchburg, VA 24503.
