HOWARD R. MARSHALL Jr.(1940 - 2017)

Howard R. Marshall, Jr., 76, retired longtime owner of the Fitzgerald-Marshall Funeral Home of Wallingford and New Haven County State Marshall, entered into rest on August 10, 2017 at the Regency House of Wallingford. He was the beloved husband of Ensey M. (Kofchur) Marshall. He was born August 25, 1940, a son of the late Howard and Ethel (Wigh) Marshall. Mr. Marshall lived a life of service. In addition to serving many local families as a funeral director and his work as a State Marshall, he was a veteran of the US Air Force and a recipient of the Good Conduct Medal. He was a member of the Democratic Town Committee, president of the Exchange Club, and was vice chairman of the building committee responsible for converting the State Armory to the current Wallingford Police Department. He was a parishioner of the Church of the Resurrection and a member of the Knights of Columbus Pinta Council 5, VFW Post 187 and the John M. Sidicki Post 187 of the American Legion. He was a devoted fan of the Boston Red Sox and the UConn Huskies Ladies Basketball team. In addition to his wife, he is cherished in the memories of his daughter, Susan M. Marshall and her husband Charles Wurtzbach of Chicago and Florida; grandson Andrew C. Grasser of Chicago and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by is brother Frederick W. Marshall and sister Dolores Gonthier. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, August 14th at 10:30 AM at the Church of the Resurrection, 115 Pond Hill Rd., Wallingford. Those attending the mass are asked to meet directly at the church. His family will receive friends and visitors on Sunday, August 13th from 3:00 to 6:00 PM at the B.C. Bailey Funeral Home, 273 South Elm St., Wallingford.

Interment will be in Williamsburg, VA.
