Reta was born to George Asa Thomson and Seneth Hyer, grew up in Lewiston, UT, and went on to North Cache High School in Richmond. She also attended Utah State University in Logan, where she met James C. Paxman. They were married March 16, 1951. After James graduated in 1953, he joined the Army as a pilot and made the military a career. They lived in many areas in the United States, mostly in the southern states. They also had a three year tour in Germany. They had three children, Alan J. Paxman, Wade T. Paxman, and Carol Ann Paxman. In 1973 after a divorce she, Wade, and Carol Ann moved to Idaho Falls at the request of her sister. She bought a home and went to work at the Oral Health Center for Dr. Steven A. Barnard. On April 30, 1982, she married Dee L. Armstrong and they were sealed in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on April 30 1983. They had many happy years together. They toured Europe, Alaska, China, and the Caribbean. An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served in various capacities over the years. She and Dee were officiators in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple for three years and also served a full-time mission to Canada (Melfort Saskatchewan.) They loved to garden and go camping. Survivors included: son Wade (Kathy Morgan) Paxman; stepchildren Michael Armstrong, Teresa Hart, Gordon Herbert, Jill (Casey McCray) Armstrong and Judy A. (Dale) Cook; sister Ann McFarland; 22 grandchildren 23 great grandchildren. Preceding were her parents George and Seneth Thomson, daughter Carol Ann Stuart, son Alan Paxman, grandson Brodie Stuart, and sisters Darma Lu Bergeson and Clarice Petersen.
