Rebecca Sue Barnett

The family of our beloved sister has arranged for a graveside service at Memorial Park Cemetery, Poplar Avenue, Memphis, honoring her remarkable life. The Reverend Ronald Fry, her brother-in-law, will officiate at the graveside service. Following his words of exhortation, her caring nephew, Al King, will share memorable comments from Becky’s colorful life.

Rebecca Sue Barnett, fifth child of Elton and Myrtle Barnett was born April 8, 1940 in Paris, Tennessee and graduated into Glory on August 12, 2017. Our dear sister committed her life to Jesus at a very early age, and has been a life-long member of The Church of the Nazarene in Memphis, Tennessee.

Her educational pathway in Memphis, Tennessee led her to attend Bruce Elementary, Bellevue Junior High, and to successfully graduate from Memphis Tech High in 1959. Shortly afterward Becky entered her vocational journey as a trustworthy employee at Memphis-owned Rodney Barber Printing Company, Goldsmith Department Store, and Provident Insurance Company, before retirement.

Our precious sister is survived by her devoted sisters, Betty Griffith who faithfully cared for her, of Memphis, Margaret Hodge of Broken Arrow, OK and Barbara Fry of Port Perry, Ontario. Becky was dearly proud of and loved her ten nieces and nephews, Steve Barnett, Maria Barnett King, Elizabeth Hodge Linder, Mark Hodge, Tim Hodge, Mary Hodge Smith, Martha Hodge Tichenor, Elizabeth Fry Werner, Larry Fry, and Jonathan Fry. In addition, she leaves a host of cousins and their spouses, as well as great nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Elton C. Barnett and Myrtle L. Clark Barnett and brother, Bill Barnett.

The family wishes to express gratitude for countless acts of kindness and love shown during Rebecca’ s lifetime.

The services have been entrusted to Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Ave., Memphis, TN 38119 (901) 767-8930. “Celebrating Life…Behind the Stone Wall.”
