Richard T. “Tom” Harris, Jr., age 70, passed away after a courageous battle with many results of kidney failure, on August 11, 2017, at Dixie Regional Medical Center in St. George, Utah.
He was born on October 3, 1946, in Mesa, Arizona, to Richard T. “Tom” Harris and Beverly Blackburn Harris.
Tom was raised in Mesa, AZ, and moved to Parowan, Utah, with his parents and siblings after graduating high school and serving an LDS building mission in the Southeast United States.
After moving to Parowan he served an LDS proselyting mission in the North West United States. After this mission he moved back to Mesa, AZ, married, and fathered 8 children. He lived in Mesa with this family until he was divorced in 1987.
He remarried and moved back to Parowan in 1988. He had worked in many different capacities during this time. In Parowan he started a business doing home repairs, remodeling, gas piping, and cabinet work.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents and 2 siblings.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Harris, and his 8 children, Rick, Rashelle, Jon, David, Jodi, Jeremy, Steven and Shannan. He will be missed by many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday August 19, 2017, at the LDS 2nd Ward (59 S 100 W) in Parowan, Utah, at 11:00 a.m. Family and friends may call Saturday, August 19, 2017, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., at the church prior to services.
Interment will be at Parowan Cemetery under the direction of Affordable Funeral Services 2002 North Main Street Cedar City Utah, 435-586-3456.
The family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses who cared for Tom over the last several years, especially Dr. Marsellas Asiago and the Iron Mission Dialysis Center. We also appreciate those church family members and other friends who gave their time and resources in his behalf.
