Prime Minister of Portugal. He served as the Prime Minister of Portugal from November 18, 1835 to April 20, 1836 during the Portuguese Constitutional Monarchy. Prior to serving as prime minister, he was educated at the University of Combra in Combra, Portugal. He then became a a military officer in the Portuguese army reaching the rank of general. He participated in all the campaigns of the Peninsular War. After leaving the military, he was elected Deputy for the Legislature serving several terms for the Province of Estremadura. While serving as prime minister, he also became Portugal's Minister of Finance. After leaving his post, he remained active in the legislature until 1857. He was awarded several crosses and medals of honor from the campaigns of the Peninsular War including the Grand Cross of the Order of Leopold I of Belgium and the Order of the Iron Crown of Austria. He was single and died of a stroke.
