Paula Jane King

Gillette resident Paula Jane King, 81, died Saturday, Aug. 12, 2017, of cancer at Close to Home Hospice.

Funeral services for Mrs. King begin at 2 p.m. Saturday at Gillette Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Donnie Edwards officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Pisgah Cemetery. Visitation is from 5-7 p.m. Friday at Gillette Memorial Chapel.

She was born Sept. 28, 1935, in Kiowa County, Oklahoma. She moved to Montana in 1956, where her three older children, Faith, Marc and Misty, were born.

She moved to Casper, where she met and married Arthur "Art" King on March 19, 1965. that union added three sons, Ricky, Butch and Rod. Their daughter Jana Lea also was born.

Shortly after, the family moved to Riverton, where she was a stay-at-home mom until youngest daughter stated school. The family lived in Riverton for 11 years.

In 1977, they moved to Gillette when her husband started working for the Carter Mining Co. Gillette had been her home since.

Mrs. King lived for God, family, country and friends, and she gave 100 percent of herself.

She started working for First National Bank in July 1977. she took a short two-year break, then went back to the bank, where she worked until her death.

Mrs. King will be remembered most for her no-nonsence way. She reveled in getting one over on her famly and friends (or soon-to-be-friends), and for anyone who knew her or was the recipient of one of her many characters.

Although small in stature, she was a giant to all---fierce, feisty loyal, determined, strong, graceful, willful, stubborn, resourceful and kind. Above all, she was a lady and will be missed.

She is survived by her daughters, Faith, Misty, and Jana; son, Rod, 12 grand-children; 17 great-grandchildren; one great-great-daughter, her sister, Dixie in Oklahoma; and very special friend, Brent.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Art King; and sons, Marc, Ricky and Butch.

The family requests in lieu of flowers that donations be made in Mrs. King's name to Make A Wish-WY, 236 W. First St., Casper, WY 82601.

Memorials and condolences also may be sent in care of Gillette Memorial Chapel, 210 W. Fifth St., Gillette, WY 82716.
