Martha Rebecca Curtis went to be with The Lord on Friday, August 11th at the Mt. Pleasant Health and Rehabilitation Center. Rebecca was born on June 9, 1936 in Lawrence County, the daughter of the late James and Layla Owens. Rebecca and her husband, Robert Lee Curtis, recently celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary. She was a devout student of The Bible, and could easily recite specific scriptures when giving advice. She was also a self-taught pianist and frequently played at church. She loved to cook for her family, attend her grandchildren’s various sporting events, and work cross-word puzzles before going to bed. However, her greatest enjoyment in life was her family, whom she loved very much. Up until her decline in health, Rebecca was a faithful member of The Tabernacle in Summertown, TN.

Survivors in addition to her husband include her children, Michael (Donna) Curtis, Mickey Curtis, and Matthew (Melissa) Curtis, all of Summertown; grand-children Brittney (Jarit) Cornelius of Summertown, Joshua (Meredith) Curtis of Nashville, Sam (Delilah) Curtis of Lawrenceburg, Rebecca (Zac) Newton of Mt. Pleasant, and Hunter Curtis of Lawrenceburg; great-grandchildren Ella Reese and Ava Kate Cornelius, both of Summertown; one sister-in-law, Eloise Owens of Summertown. In addition to her parents, Rebecca was preceded in death by brothers O.J and Malcolm, and by sister Louise.

Funeral Services for Rebecca will be conducted Sunday at 3:30pm in the chapel of Neal Funeral Home in Lawrenceburg, TN with Pastor Rickey Pitts and Sam Curtis officiating. Burial will follow at the Summertown Cemetery in Summertown, TN.

The family will visit with friends on Saturday from 5:00-8:00 at Neal Funeral Home.
