In 1952 Doris Ann and Shirl moved to Riverside, CA, where she taught high school English and advised the yearbook for 20 years. She also taught early morning Seminary for 10 years. She served in many church callings, including as ward and stake Young Women's Presidents. She was involved in the development of the LDS camp at Big Bear, CA and attended the camp with the youth for many years. When they retired in 1986, Doris and Shirl were called to the New York Rochester Mission, where they served in the mission office and at the Hill Cumorah Visitors' Center.
Following their mission Doris Ann and Shirl moved to Provo, Utah. In 1989-90 they served a temple mission at the Washington DC Temple. On their return Doris Ann worked in the Provo Temple, wrote personal histories and indexed thousands of names. She and Shirl had just celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary.
Doris is survived by her husband, Shirl Bishop, their four children: Gail Argetsinger (Jerry), Anne Heaston (Dennis), Karen Mikkelsen (Kent) and Russell Bishop (Scarlett), 11 grandchildren, and 24 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 22, 2017 at the Oak Hills 5th Ward chapel, 1960 North 1500 East, Provo Utah. Friends may call at the chapel from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Burial will be at the Brigham City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the local food bank.
