Vera Frances Stevens Cox, age 83, was called home peacefully on August, 10 2017, while on a road trip with her husband. She was born March 14, 1934, in Montgomery, AL to the late Tyre and Ruth Stevens. Vera graduated Montevallo Unversity in 1956, with a degree in education followed by a masters in Counseling in 1960. She taught school and served as a guidance counselor. Vera loved to travel and make memories with her family. She was preceded in death by her parents. Vera is survived by her husband of 54 years, Ralph L. Cox; Son Bud Cox and Daughter Catherine Cox, of Auburn, AL; a sister Mary Katherine "Mollie" Powell; and numerous loving cousins. Visitation will be Tuesday, August 15, 2017, at St. Luke United Methodist Church, 1394 E 9 Mile Rd, Pensacola, FL 32514 from 9:00AM until 10:00AM when the funeral service begins. Rev. Larry Anderson will officiate. Interment will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery, at Naval Air Station Pensacola. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Vera's memory to St. Luke United Methodist Church.
