CALDWELL, Margaret Rosemary Ross, 86, of Roanoke, VA, passed away Saturday, November 3, 2012. Born in Anson County, NC on March 21, 1926, Rosemary was the daughter of the late Martin Luther Ross and Rose Hawkins Ross. She was a graduate of Marshville High School and attended High Point University and Milligan College. At Milligan she met the late Stokely Gray Caldwell, whom she married on June 4, 1947 and they shared a wonderful life together for 55 years. Rosemary was predeceased by her brother Edward Hawkins Ross, her sister Genevieve Ross Lawson and five half brothers and sisters; as well as her beloved pet chihuahua, Muffy. Rosemary was always a beautiful woman. She was known to all as a gracious host, a talented cook and a loving soul. She was active in many social and civic clubs in Roanoke. She is survived by her daughter Anne Caldwell Trinkle, and her husband, William S. Trinkle, Jr. of Roanoke; her son, Stokely Gray Caldwell, Jr., and his wife, Julia Dalhouse Caldwell, of Charlotte, NC; two grandchildren, Stokely Gray Caldwell, III, and his wife Abigail Jean Caldwell of Denver, CO and Lauren Ross Caldwell of Charlotte, NC; two step-grandchildren, Sarah Trinkle Caviness of Cape Coral, FL and William Taylor Trinkle of Sanibel Island, FL; and two step-great-grandchildren Ryan Caviness, and his wife Elicia of Seattle, WA and Mariah Caviness of Sanibel Island, FL. She is also survived by her nephew and niece, Charles David Lawson, Jr. and Diane Lawson Gaither; and by Trish Gray and a number of other nieces, nephews and cousins. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 10, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Second Presbyterian Church in Roanoke with the Reverend Dr. George C. Anderson officiating. A private interment will be held prior to the service.
