Jean Cornett Allen passed away on Sunday, Aug. 6, 2017. She was born May 25, 1921, to Linville and Belle Cornett and was one of nine children.
She was predeceased by her husband, Ben Allen; two brothers; four sisters; and her sons, Gregory McReight, Jimmy McReight, and Benny Allen.
She is survived by sisters, Grace Cornett and Maude Pilkington; many nieces and nephews; and great-grandson, Ben Allen III.
Jean was a faithful member of Central Baptist Church for over 50 years and taught Sunday school for more than 40 of those years.
She and her husband Ben were well known for their huge garden which fed the whole neighborhood surrounding them. Jean was still planting a garden well into her late eighties. She was blessed to still be living in her home until age 96 totally self sufficient most of that time.
Thanks to her family, neighbors, and dear friends that were like family she led a contented life surrounded by love right up to the time of her death. She will be remembered for her service to the church, her endless love for her boys, feisty spirit, great stories about life during World War II, and the friendships she made along the way.
