Natasha Ariel Lewis, born Tuesday, August 18, 1992, the only daughter of Miriam Joy Root Lewis in Yuma, Arizona. Natasha passed away suddenly Tuesday, September 29, 2015. She graduated with honors from Southview Sylvania High School in 2010 and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Geology from Ohio State University in 2014. She worked two summers for NASA in Maryland and one summer for an oil company in Houston, Texas. She was pursuing her Masters in Geology at the University of Oklahoma where she also worked as a Teacher’s Assistant. Natasha was a delightful child with a contagious smile. When she was little, she swam like a fish, climbed like a monkey and ran with carefree abandon. She loved music. When she was young, she took violin and piano lessons before settling on the flute, which she played with the band and orchestra in high school. While in high school she learned other instruments, including the oboe, and more recently she was teaching herself to play guitar and compose music. She was also gifted artistically and loved to draw. Natasha enjoyed conversing with people in their own languages, so she studied several languages, including Spanish, French and Arabic. She became quite fluent in a couple of those languages and sometimes teased her mom by launching into one language while pretending not to know English. Natasha preferred living in the city, loved adventure and enjoyed being outdoors. She cared deeply about people and would do anything to help out someone in need. She was also a bit of a bleeding heart for animals, which often landed her with pets. She had a strong work ethic and was committed to doing all things well. Geology was something she became interested in at quite a young age and pursued enthusiastically. If you asked her about her project or anything related to geology, her face would light up and her conversation would grow quite animated. She is survived by her Mother, Miriam Joy Root Lewis, her Grandparents, Vern Root, Anne Priscilla Paine Root, Laura Jean Moore Lewis and members of the Haviland, Root, Wildasin, Hinkle, and Berry families. Visitation and a memorial service were held at the Family Christian Center, Toledo, Ohio. Additional visitation followed the memorial service with light refreshments. Arrangements entrusted to Coyle Funeral Home.
