Laura Ann (Roether) Elder, of Perrysburg, Ohio, passed on June 24, 2016. Laura (Ann) was born February 25, 1927, in Perrysburg, Ohio. She was the daughter of Helen (Saylor) Roether, a correspondent for The Daily Sentinel-Tribune and Herbert Ewing Roether, a former Wood County Treasurer. Her grandfather was Dr. Henry R. Roether who practiced medicine in Perrysburg for 42 years. Dr. Roether served as mayor in 1937. After graduating from Perrysburg High School in 1945, Ann attended Denison University. She graduated from Denison with degrees in Physical Education and Social Work. After graduating, Ann worked for Lucas Country Lutheran Children Services. She met the love of her life, Lynn D. Elder (deceased). Married for 63 years, they enjoyed square dancing and traveling to Europe to buy merchandise for the gift store they opened in Perrysburg, Ohio, in 1985, as a retirement business. Prior to that time, Ann worked as a social worker in Painesville City Schools and Madison Local Schools. She was a member of A.A.U.W. and Perrysburg New Century Club. Ann is survived by her daughters, Deborah Elder, Pamela Elder; son, Gregory Elder; daughter-in-law, Karen McAnlis Elder; two grandchildren; nieces, Catherine Roether (Matthew) Dick, Caroline Roether (John) Bonifas; several great-nieces and nephews.
